I am fostering Sable until I can find him a good home.

He is almost entirely black except for a tiny white patch on his chest and somestray white hairs on his underside, so I'm pretty sure he's a Bombay.

Hefollows me around everywhere and jumps up in my lap (and sometimes my bed) justabout any chance he gets.

He has a broken tail, and I'm not sure how old he is, but like I said before, he is not fixed and not declawed yet is very well-behaved and uses the litter box without any problems.

Hello all!

I wanted to write to give you an update on Twinkle-Toes, now Josie-Toes (orjust Jojo). She's doing great in her new apartment, which she graciously allowsme to stay in, too. There are moments of passionate playing and running whichdislodge the bathmat and make the picture frames shake, and plenty of sleepingon every soft surface in the apartment to balance it out! Josie is a realfurball, and a pleasure to have curled up behind my knees every night. Shelikes talking to me and watching the squirrels in the tree outside my window.She had to do some visiting with cousin-cats over the holidays, which shewasn't really a fan of, so I think she'll remain an only child for theforeseeable future. However, after a week or two of hissing, she and Chelsea,the other cat in the picture, were able to sleep in the same room, which was ahuge improvement. I think she's definitely glad to be home, though! HavingJosie makes coming home to her wonderful after every day. Thank you so much fortaking such good care of her before she got here.

- Precious is a dilute calico. She and her daughter, PJ (stands for Precious Junior) need a new home because their owner has passed away. Precious was an incredible mother for such a young cat; at the time we estimated she was maybe 9 months old. Precious loves attention and is very curious. She is close to PJ and still grooms her from time to time. Precious enjoys playing with wands and laser toys.

Can we give this sweet boy the best Christmas gift EVER....a family?! This is truly a love-able, snuggly, gentle little kitty. He would make an amazing companion for anyone. He is currently being kept in a basement crate and while Tina gives him lots of TLC, there is nowhere else for him to go and he needs to be out ASAP.

"Give the gift that keeps on giving! This sweet baby boy has only love to give and needs a warm safe home! He was rescued in the snow almost 2 weeks ago and he is very gentle, low-key, and just wants to be held. Once he gets familiar with his surroundings, he is curious and likes to explore. I have never seen a cat, especially a kitten, with his disposition.
He just recovered from being neutered and vaccinated last week. A warm gray tabby, he’s about 7-8 months old and most likely the only brother to the 3 girls that I rescued this past summer. Here are some pictures of the kitten Roscoe. He was abandoned (dropped off by someone) at my parent’s neighbors house.

My eight year old nephew walked him over to my house around the corner because he knew that I had feral cats in my backyard that I had been feeding.

The kitten if very loving and very tamed and he loves people and follow me around everywhere I go. He love to sit next to me and cuddle and play and he purrs all the time. I call him a male but I really can not tell right now. I did keep him outside for a while with the other cats but he is quite young and did not know cat’s hierarchs. So unfortunately, another cat scratched him on his nose. You and see the scratch in one of the pictures.

He is now in the house with me but I will be unable to keep him because I am only living on unemployment right now and will not be able to afford the Vet bills. So, he has not been to the Vet yet and will need to have this taken care of by someone who can afford and love him.

He was given the name Roscoe by my great niece who came here to visit us from Texas.

Hello!

We need to find a home for our wonderful cat Neugent.He is a 6 year old neutered male cat. He is very affectionate and playful.

He is great with children and other cats. He is super cute and loving. He is a long haired orange and white cat and is about 8.5lbs. He does have his claws, but has never been destructive.

Our family rescued him from the pound when he was about 6 weeks old. He has not had any health problems with the exception of one urinary blockage. He now eats Hill's Science Diet and has been fine since his diet changed.

We are very sad about having to find Neugent a new home, but our 2 year old son just recently developed a terrible allergy to cats. We never thought we would be in this position and are desperate to find Neugent a new home.

Buckeye is a tortoise, female, spayed cat. She is almost 3 years old. She is not declawed and had pink nail caps on her front claws when we lost her (most likely, they have fallen off by now). She is a petite cat, but also had a few extra pounds on her (her belly sags when she walks). She is very friendly once she gets to know you, but can be pretty skiddish around people she doesn't know. She can also be sneaky and mischievous. We have 2 dogs and 2 other cats, so she's pretty good around other animals, but does like to start trouble with other cats sometimes. She likes to play and usually will bite (playfully). She also likes to lick you.

She snuck out of our house in Anderson Twp (close to the Beechmont Ave/Wolfangel intersection) about a month ago.

Hello everyone at OAR!

First off, thank you all for everything you do! The process of bringing in a new cat to our home has been so easy with all of your help. It was also comforting knowing that if Keefe didn't work out I had a place to return him. Luckily Keefe has been a PERFECT fit to our home and his name was actually changed to Nippert (thanks to my husband being a big UC fan =)).

He is getting along with the cat we already had wonderfully. My older cat is still a little jealous but they are warming up to each other more and more daily. They are actually chasing each other through the house and wrestling as I'm writing this. =) Nippert is the most cuddly cat I have ever had and is constantly rubbing up against my legs to be picked up and jumping up on my lap the second I sit down. I have attached a few pictures, some of him sleeping in his weird places and a couple with his new friend. With the one in the mirror he actually climbed up over my shoulders and fell asleep while I was getting ready in the morning. Too cute. =)

Thank you again for everything! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and I really appreciate everything. We love our new kitten! I will definitely be recommending your rescue whenever I hear of anyone looking for a new family addition.

Willas is approximately 6 months old & very tiny! He currently weighs 3.1 lbs & the vet doesn’t expect him to exceed 3.5 lbs ever. He’s a dark grey tabby, but he has the most interesting RED hue to his fur. He’s a unique lil fella.

He found us about 2 wks ago. Since then he’s received de-worming meds (although none were found) & been checked for fleas/ticks/etc (none). He is litter box trained also. He’s super quiet & ridiculously easy. He plays a little bit, but is perfectly content just curled up on something soft right next to you.

I have a lot of food, litter & some toys for him. As I mentioned, I am willing to pay for any of the necessary expenses to get him into a good home (shots, neutered). I don’t want anyone to make the decision to NOT take this adorable critter into their home because its cost-prohibitive. I’m just not able to keep him…or, I would. Any help you can provide is GREATLY appreciated!

Lucy showed up at my house in early July. The vet and I guess she is probably about 1 year - 1 1/2 years old. On July 15, she gave birth to 5 beautiful, healthy kittens and was a fantastic mom!

Since her kittens have left the nest she has relaxed into a very sweet, calm cat who loves to spend her days laying in the window sill.

She is great with my (very large) dog and children. She is FIV and FL negative. She has not had vaccinations because she has been pregnant/nursing while in my care.

Rory is currently two years old and has been the best addition to my life. She is an extremely loving girl, who constantly purrs and loves to cuddle. She has a great talent... which is playing fetch. She loves to bring me a crinkled receipt, hair band, or string and drop it by me so I will throw it, and she will go retrieve it. I was quite impressed when I found out that Rory could do this! Rory loves to greet me as soon I come home, and jump onto my lap. She is such a bundle of joy, I cannot imagine not having her around me.

Lost Cat / Brown/Black Tabby Missing from North College Hill Area on Betts Ave by Goodman & Dearmond

Three weeks ago Sunday (August 18th), my only indoor/outdoor cat went missing. While I have been to the SPCA every other day, several people have told me I need to contact other rescue groups. While it may be a long shot, I will do almost anything to try to find him.

His name is Kitty and he is between 16 and 17 years old. He is neutered. He is a dark brown/black tabby with a white chest and white up between his eyes. He has one front leg that is white and the other is striped with a white paw. He also has a light brown chin. He has mats in his fur and I cut out as many as he would let me. His fur is short. His back legs are getting weak and he only has one tooth in the front.

For 16 years he has gone in and out but rarely went very far. He always liked to hang out under the deck about 3 houses down from our house. The last time I saw him was around 9:30 AM on Sunday the 18^th. I have looked everywhere, bushes, garages, talked to all the neighbors, put up flyers, put an ad in the paper, even hired a Pet Detective with dogs to come out. All the dogs could pick up was to the yard he normally went to. I get calls but none are him.

OAR Success Story / Emerson & Earl

Hi!

We wanted to give you guys an update on Emerson and Earl. They are doing fantastic, and we really couldn't have asked for better kitties.

Emerson really jumped right in and made himself right at home. He loves laying under the covers in bed with his head on "his" pillow. He's a natural hunter and loves to track down hidden treats and catnip. He also keeps our house bug free. If he sees a fly or a beetle he's immediately on the prowl.

Earl really took a full year to totally adjust. He makes progress everyday. Earl really had a very hard relaxing and wanting to be petted and loved on. However he has always loved to be brushed and comes running to beat Emerson when we're brush them. Now he loves to cuddle on the couch and is always in the mood to be petted. Even though they are still really big boys, they lay in one cat bed all on top of each other all the time. They are no longer afraid of strangers and love to investigate and show off for anyone who comes over.
They have been worth all of our patience and love and are blossoming into very sociable and loving companions.

We appreciate how well cared for and love they were by everyone at OAR before they got to come to their forever home with us. We know what a big difference it made to our boys and to all of the cats and families lives' you touch everyday.

Lily, formerly known as Wilma, has been with us 8 months now and has quickly become a treasured member of our family. Sammy, our 12 year old, has accepted her as a housemate and frequently shares his favorite spots with her.

Lily loves to sit on a lap and have her head petted, and has become quite fond of canned food (she still requires supervision at mealtime). Lily settled into her new home as if she'd been waiting to be here for years--no adjustment anxiety whatsoever.

She is a sweet as she can be and a joy to have with us. I just can't imagine why she spent so long without a home of her own, and now I can't imagine our home without her. Lily is helping my heart to heal from the loss of my little boy cat last October--thanks you O.A.R.!

I recently found an older kitten crying outside my apartment, looking like she was about to perish of starvation and thirst. I've since taen her in and she's doing much better now, but I am unable to keep her due to my lease agreement. I have attempted to find her a home but no luck so far.

She's a small black and white cat. She's super affectionate and LOVES to be around lots of people, even large groups. I'd imagine that she's kid-friendly as well.. I just can't see her lashing out at anyone. She is also open to living with other cats, not sure about dogs.

I am a regular volunteer at the shelter. When Melrose and Piedmont came to the shelter, they had to be kept separate from the rest of the cats, because they had come from an FIV-positive colony, and it would take some weeks to make sure they tested negative. Since they were still young--about 5 months old--I hated to see them stay in a small pen for that time, so I decided to foster them at my home. When it was time for them to be re-tested, I returned them to the shelter. They tested negative, and were ready to be adopted.

However, when the only person interested in them wanted only one kitten, I could not stand it, and they came back with me to their "forever home". As this picture shows, it is great to be able to keep two siblings together. Needless to say, they are an absolute delight, and my husband, who was never knowingly a "cat person", now delights in stretching out on the chaise, with both cats sleeping on his chest. They have totally enriched our lives, and are a joy each and every day. -- Susan

My wife and I are looking for a home for an adult male cat. Main-coon type, medium brown with black tiger stripes. We found him as a stray approximately 1 year ago. He took up residence in our yard, and we looked for postings for missing cats, as he was already neutered and de-clawed.

We took him to our vet to be scanned for a micro chip, but he had none. We made the decision to bring him into our home. We already have other kitties and it is proving to be too many in our very small home.

We wanted to do what is right for him when we first found him, so we gave him a home. However we know that he deserves a loving, forever home where he can receive the individual attention he craves.

My fiance and I were looking for a buddy for our 1 year old male cat Twix, who seemed lonely after moving into a new condo. Kitkat (formerly known as Ike) caught my eye immediately at Petsmart where he was waiting for adoption. We were a little unsure how Twix might react to a new cat in the house and have been so pleased with how things have turned out. Within a matter of days they were sleeping together and washing each other. Kitkat has been so much fun for us humans too. He is very loving and enjoys purring, getting pets and playing chase games. I was told he and others in his litter were bottle fed by some of your volunteers and I can't help but wonder if that early human contact contributed to his sweet personality. We adopted Brody just over a year ago from OAR. We first saw him at Petsmart in Oakley where his energetic and mischievous personality won us over.

Brody loves to snuggle and can usually be found curled up in a lap or under a blanket. When he isn't napping, Brody loves zooming through the house, sliding across the wood floors while chasing his catnip mouse. He is quite friendly and has never met a stranger. His favorite spot is his kitty bed by the front door, especially on a sunny day. He is known for climbing in anything that opens, drawers, refrigerators, and boxes, just to name a few. He has quite the appetite and loves a kitty treat! He has made the perfect addition to our family.

Holly is a sad case of some of the worst abuse, thrown into a cage (already half-filled with garbage) and starved, she was found standing in her own feces.

Her rescue road has also been a bit curvy, but she is off to a strong start. Outlined ribs have been replaced with muscle tone, and in the place of quiet reserve and caution a playful, but obedient, puppy has emerged.

Holly is a 1 y/o Boxer/Lab who has blossomed in her first adoptive home but, due to the person’s circumstances, has to find another spot. We have learned that Holly is great with kids, cats, and other dogs. She is obedient and very smart. Again, due to the person’s circumstances, Holly still needs a bit of help with housetraining but will do fine, with proper guidance.

I have six cats and need to find homes for some: Momma, Sid, Catty, Luna, Pepe, and Cutie.

They are raw fed, they eat chicken wings, gizzards, hearts and livers, all raw. They are all about 4 years old, spayed and neutered but need a vet visit for shots and checkups.

Catty had some skin problems which is how I ended up raw feeding about 3 months ago but he is doing great now and his fur is coming back in. Cutie burned some whiskers off sticking her face in the furnace... a basement is no good home for cats. Luna is a little bit of a special needs case, she is very skittish. She just needs a little extra tlc, she is shy.

I ended up with all these cats because someone dropped off two pregnant ones on my front lawn when I lived in the country. That was years ago. The mommas had their babies and I have been able to find homes for about half of them so far. Since then we have moved to the city. As of today I have 11 pets that includes the cats, 2 dogs and 3 hamsters. It is too much. If anyone can help by taking a cat it would be so deeply appreciated by me and by the cats. They live in the basement right now to decrease the chaos but as the sun comes out I feel so bad. They should be indoor/outdoor cats or at the very least active members of a family but they will kill the birds nesting on my back porch so I am scared to let them outside. There is a pair of wrens that have nested here with us since we moved two years ago. Plus unleashing 6 cats on the neighborhood spayed and neutered or not is not a very neighborly thing to do in my opinion.

In August, a momma cat had two kittens on our front porch. We were able to find a home for the male kitten with a neighbor but still have the mom cat and her female kitten. We would love to keep them but we already have one male and three very jealous female cats already.
